Take turns talking and listening to each other.

When you take turns talking and listening to each other, it tells your child their ideas are important.

Here’s some ideas to talk about:

  • Ice cream: Favorite flavor? Cup or cone? Sprinkles? Love or hate it when your head freezes? Favorite ice cream place?
  • Pets: Puppies or kittens? Turtles or fish? How do you help care for a pet? What kind of pets in your family? Do you have one? Want one?
  • Lovies: What’s yours? What’s its name? Fill in these blanks – When I was little, I had a ___ named ___ that I loved so much I ___.
  • Clouds: Lie on your backs together and talk about what you see in the sky. (I always look for dragons and unicorns!)
